About Jewell Hudgens

Company History

Jewell Hudgens, Inc. was formed in 1947 as a machine shop providing repair services to area sawmills. The company continued to function in this capacity while entering the roller business during the 1960s. The first rubber covered rollers serviced by the company were taken to the Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant in Beaumont, Texas to have rubber calendared onto the rollers. As the roller business expanded, equipment was purchased and the company began to cover rollers with rubber itself. During the late 1970s, Polyurethane coverings were added to the company's list of products.

During the 1990s, the company expanded its capacity in the roller covering business by enlarging its building and purchasing additional equipment. The plant today includes two buildings that are 19,000 and 23,000 square feet.
